Nakar Hotel Palma de Mallorca: Is It Worth the Price?

Palma is the heart of this gorgeous Spanish island, and it has many hotels that promise a rooftop cocktail with a cathedral view. So it took us a while to narrow it down before booking Nakar Hotel Palma de Mallorca. We’re so glad we did, but there are a few things worth knowing before you book. Here’s a breakdown of everything we experienced, including the pros and cons, so you can decide if it’s worth it for your trip to Mallorca.

First Impressions at Nakar Hotel Palma de Mallorca

The lobby at Nakar Hotel instantly feels calming. It’s small and warm, with wood-paneled walls, a simple front desk, and the elevators. We were checked in quickly and the staff were lovely from arrival through to checkout. The spa is downstairs, the fitness center and other facilities are on the second floor, the restaurant is on the top floor, and the pool and bar are on the roof above that. It’s a small hotel that packs in a lot of elevated perks.

Nakar Hotel Rooms: Spacious for Central Palma

We booked a suite with a spa bath and balcony. Our room was seriously spacious, which surprised us in the center of Palma. We had a king bed, a long sofa, a desk, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a small balcony looking down over the main street. The bed was super comfortable and we each got a king-size gel pillow and a fluffier one, which is a nice touch to make it even cozier. The bathroom had a double vanity, slippers and robes, Molton Brown bath products, and a separate enclosed toilet. There was also a minibar with a large variety of drinks and snacks, at a high price, of course.

Big Caution: The shower was inside the jacuzzi tub in our suite, so you’re stepping up and over to get in. We had no trouble with it, but anyone with mobility or balance issues should ensure you’re booking a room with a walk-in shower. They do have plenty of options.

The Rooftop Pool and Bar at Nakar Hotel Palma de Mallorca

The rooftop is one of the main reasons we booked here, and it lives up to the photos. It offers a great view of the Palma Cathedral with the sea behind it. At night the cathedral is lit up and the pool glows blue for ambiance. It’s very small but it was our favorite rooftop of the trip. The rooftop is guests only during the day and opens to the public at night. You’ll find loungers around the pool during the day, and high-top tables with low-key music and a small cocktail bar at night. You should note that the pool is mostly decorative. You can swim in it, but it’s shallow and built around the view. So you can get in and cool off, but no one was really swimming in it while we were there.

The Top-Floor Restaurant and Breakfast

The restaurant is located just below the rooftop, and it also gives you a beautiful view of Palma de Mallorca while you dine. Breakfast was included in our rate. The food was great and the dining room is lovely, so we’d even try dinner here next time if we were staying longer.

The Nakar Spa

The spa is located on the basement level with a sauna, steam room, small dipping pool, and loungers. Massages and treatments are available, though we didn’t book any this trip. The spa is free for guest but you have to reserve a time. We did this in the afternoon with no problem, and it was a nice way to spend some time relaxing between activities.

Location: Nakar Hotel Is in the Heart of Palma

Nakar Hotel is right in the heart of town. If you’re not familiar, Palma de Mallorca has a big-city feel even though it’s on an island. There are tons of bars, restaurants, boating excursions, and sights to see. We highly recommend checking it out for a few days in combination with a beach location elsewhere on the island. You can read our full guide to the Mallorca beach town we picked here: Cala Ratjada, Mallorca: Is It the Right Vibe for Your Trip?

Everywhere we wanted to go in Palma was an easy walk from Nakar Hotel, so we never needed an Uber or taxi. Our balcony also looked out over the main street, which we liked. The greatest part was the two sets of double-pane windows and doors to the balcony, which kept the room wonderfully quiet.

What Nakar Hotel Palma de Mallorca Costs

We paid $1,200 for three nights in the suite with spa bath and balcony and breakfast included. But we got a promo deal at around 40% off. This is usually the price of their basic double room. The deal we found was only on the hotel’s own website, not on any of the third-party booking sites we checked.

Luxe-for-Less Tip: Book directly through the Nakar Hotel website and watch for Black Friday deals and shoulder-season rates. We would have paid full price and been happy with a basic or standard room, but 40% off the suite made it so much nicer.

Who Should Book Nakar Hotel

  • Book It If: You want a central, polished hotel with a great rooftop, a spa, and a beautiful room. You’re willing to pay for a hotel that adds to the vacation vibe rather than just being a place to sleep.
  • Skip It If: You’re traveling on a budget, you want a real swimming pool, or you’d rather skip the city and just stay on Mallorca’s beaches.
  • We loved our stay and we’d book Nakar Hotel again in a heartbeat. But we highly recommend waiting for a good rate and booking direct.

Nakar Hotel Palma de Mallorca: At-a-Glance

  • Location: the heart of Palma, walkable to everything, with a surprisingly sound-proof balcony over the main street
  • What we paid: $1,200 for three nights in a suite through a Black Friday deal at around 40% off with breakfast included
  • Book direct: the deals we found were only on the hotel’s website, not third-party sites
  • The room: the suite was very spacious for central Palma, with two pillow types each, lovely amenities, a jacuzzi tub, stocked minibar, and small balcony
  • Rooftop: guests only during the day, open to the public at night, cathedral straight ahead
  • Don’t expect: a big swimming pool. The rooftop pool is beautiful, but it’s small and shallow
  • Ask before booking: whether a walk-in shower room is available, if you have accessibility concerns
  • Also on site: the spa downstairs and the fitness center on the second floor
  • Best for: couples who want a posh central location with a rooftop, a spa, and a bit of luxe
  • Not for: budget travelers, families that want a big pool, or beach-goers who want to spend their whole trip by the sea

Nakar Hotel Palma de Mallorca FAQs

Is Nakar Hotel Palma de Mallorca Worth It?

Yes, for us. You get a central location, a rooftop with cathedral views, a spa, and breakfast included. It’s a splurge, so watch for deals and book directly through the hotel.

Is the Nakar Hotel Rooftop Open to Non-Guests?

Yes, at night. During the day the rooftop is reserved for hotel guests with loungers, and in the evening it opens to the public with high-top tables and music.

Does Nakar Hotel Have a Swimming Pool?

Yes, but it’s very small. The rooftop pool is shallow and made for the view. You can take a dip to cool off but not much more.

Is Breakfast Included at Nakar Hotel?

It was included in our rate and served in the top-floor restaurant, which has gorgeous views of the city and the sea. We also loved that breakfast was served later than most places, because we’re not early morning risers.

Does Nakar Hotel Have a Spa?

Yes. There’s a sauna, steam room, dipping pool, and loungers downstairs, plus massages and treatments you can book. We used the facilities but didn’t have $300 in the budget for two massages.

How Much Does Nakar Hotel Cost?

We paid $1,200 for three nights in a suite with sap bath and balcony, which also included breakfast, but that was a Black Friday rate at roughly 40% off and booked directly on the hotel’s website. Typically, that’s how much you’d spend for a basic or standard room, but we still think it’s worth it for the hotels posh vibe, included breakfast, and central location.

Does Nakar Hotel Have Accessible Rooms?

Yes, but our spa room had the shower inside the jacuzzi tub, which was lovely, but means climbing over the tub to get in. Contact the hotel directly about walk-in shower and accessible room options before you book, they have plenty available.

Happy travels from Palma de Mallorca 🥂
