Best Cala Ratjada Hotel for Affordable Resort Relaxation

Grupotel Aguait Resort & Spa is our pick of the Cala Ratjada hotels for a mid-priced, quiet resort set a bit away from town but still easily walkable if your up for about a mile stroll into town. As soon as you enter the lobby, you’ll see the blue water through the windows on the other side. This sets the tone for a lovely relaxing stay. Even though it isn’t five-star luxury, it’s the right balance of affordable and beautiful.

The Passeig Marítim walkway can be accesses at the side of the hotel, and from there it’s less than a mile into the heart of town. Rooms are basic but comfortable, and ours was very quiet with excellent blackout curtains. We paid $250 a night in late August, and the service was fantastic from the front desk to the pool bar, where the staff learned our names on arrival. 👉 Read our full review here: Grupotel Aguait Review: Worth It in Cala Ratjada?

Pro Tip: Book the sea view room. The rooms are small, so a balcony with a view will elevate your stay, and ours looked straight out over the rocks and the water.

Best Cala Ratjada Hotel in the Heart of Town: The Sea Club

The Sea Club puts you right in the middle of everything right on the Passeig Marítim walkway, so when you step out your door, you have immediate access to all the restaurants and bars in town, as well as excellent sea views. The outdoor restaurant is located along the walkway with a nice terrace shaded by big umbrellas and an old olive tree. You can look out toward the water, and enjoy breakfast or a beverage in the afternoon.

The trade-off is that being steps from the restaurants and bars also means being steps from the foot traffic. So, you won’t get the quiet evenings we had at Grupotel Aguait Resort & Spa, but you will be central. Notably, though, Cala Ratjada is not a party town. So, it’s lively along the walkway but mostly with restaurants. For us, it had just enough going on.

Best Budget Hotel in Cala Ratjada: Hostal Cala Ratjada

Hostal Cala Ratjada is our best budget pick. This is not a hostel in the traditional sense. It’s a family-run budget hotel where you can get a private room with a bathroom for less than $50 per person per night. You can splurge a little for a balcony with a sea view, but even if you don’t, it’s located directly in town and a block from the water and the walkway. So, you keep the central location near all the restaurants, bars, and activities, without paying for a waterfront room.

Hostal Cala Ratjada has rooms for $50-$100 in town a block from the sea

Best Luxury Hotel Near Cala Ratjada: Pleta de Mar, Grand Luxury Hotel by Nature

Pleta de Mar, Grand Luxury Hotel by Nature is a lovely property located about a 15-minute drive from Cala Ratjada. We didn’t stay here because it was outside of town and out of our budget, but it made our short-list for something a little off the beaten path and worthy of a splurge. That’s why we’re still sharing it here. It’s an adults-only proper in a gorgeous setting with everything you need onsite. We’ll book this next time we want luxury and relaxation in a tranquil setting.

Where to Stay in Cala Ratjada: Which Area Is Best?

You’ll find the heart of Cala Ratjada at the end of the Passeig Marítim, which is a paved walkway where the restaurants, bars and boat trips are. Platja de Son Moll is the main sandy beach at the other end of the walkway. It’s small and it gets busy in August, so you may find that booking a resort or hotel with loungers and a pool is the better way to go. The Sea Club and Hostal Cala Ratjada are both in this stretch, so stay here if you want to walk out your door and have access to bars and restaurants. We should note it’s mostly restaurants along this strip. It’s much more relaxed than the party towns near Palma.

Grupotel Aguait Resort & Spa is located away from town, less than a mile from Platja de Son Moll and exactly 1.5 miles to the marina at the end of Passeig Marítim. You’ll take the walkway past small rocky coves where people swim and snorkel. The walk turned out to be the best part of our day. We did it at lunch and again at dinner to get 6 miles of walking in while enjoying everything in the heart of town as well as a quieter resort to come back to.

Luxe-for-Less Tip: We researched many beach towns on Mallorca before booking and they share most of the same features, so it came down to price and vibe. We didn’t want a party beach but we did want enough going on to keep us busy, and Cala Ratjada gave us that for less than the better-known spots.

Cala Ratjada Hotels: Quick Picks

  • Best for quiet and walkability: Grupotel Aguait Resort & Spa, a mile from town on the walkway, and a sea view balcony is worth the upgrade
  • Best for being in the middle of it: The Sea Club, on the Passeig Marítim with a shaded terrace over the water
  • Best budget pick: Hostal Cala Ratjada, you get a private room and bath that’s central and a block from the water for an amazing price at a family-run hotel
  • Best luxury splurge: Pleta de Mar, Grand Luxury Hotel by Nature, which is about a 15-minute drive from town

Cala Ratjada Hotels: Frequently Asked Questions

Where Should I Stay in Cala Ratjada?

Stay in the heart of town at The Sea Club or Hostal Cala Ratjada if you want to walk out your door into the restaurants and bars. Stay at Grupotel Aguait Resort & Spa if you’d rather have a quiet resort on the water with a mile walk into town.

Which Cala Ratjada Hotels Are on the Pedestrian Walkway?

The Sea Club is directly on the Passeig Marítim in the heart of town and Hostal Cala Ratjada is a block off it. There are many hotels along this strip, so you should easily find something that fits your vibe and budget in a central location. Grupotel Aguait Resort & Spa is on the walkway too, but it’s a mile from the heart of town.

Are There Luxury Hotels in Cala Ratjada?

Pleta de Mar, Grand Luxury Hotel by Nature is our top luxury option we want to try next, but it’s about a 15-minute drive outside town. In Cala Ratjada itself, you’ll find many mid-range hotels and resorts, boutiques, and budget properties.

Is Cala Ratjada Walkable?

Yes, and it’s the best thing about it. The Passeig Marítim runs along the water past bars, restaurants and small rocky coves, and it connects the resorts to the town center. We walked it twice a day for three days and never needed a car.

Do You Need a Car in Cala Ratjada?

No. We took a taxi from Palma airport, which our hotel arranged for 110 euro each way, and walked everywhere after that. You’ll want a car if you book Pleta de Mar or something else outside of town, or if you plan to explore the rest of the island on your own. Taxis are way more expensive than rental cars if you’ll be doing more than just getting to and from your accommodations.

Is Cala Ratjada a Party Town?

Not in our experience. We went the last week of August and found it quiet, with families and couples rather than the party scene some other areas of the island are known for.

Happy travels
