Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi Review: Luxury for Less on the Corniche
Finding a hotel that balances luxury with high-value points redemptions in the Middle East can be a challenge. During our brief trip to the UAE, we stayed at the Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel & Residences Emirates Pearl to see if this Hyatt Category 4 property lived up to its reputation as a lower-cost luxury option on the Corniche. Here’s everything you need to know before you book, including what we paid for it.

Arrival and Seamless Check In
The trip from Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) to the hotel takes about 40 minutes. We used Uber, which cost us $32 USD each way. The airport has a dedicated, well-signed ride-share pickup area that makes the process easy even after a long flight.
On arrival, the lobby of the Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel & Residences Emirates Pearl is magnificent, featuring high ceilings and massive windows. Because we hold Discoverist status with Hyatt – which comes automatically with the Chase Hyatt credit card – we were ushered to a private check-in desk.
While the staff processed our documents, they provided us with water, hot tea, and even a small sample of perfume. It was a nice touch that added to the high-end feel of the property. We were also eligible for a 2:00 PM late checkout, though we didn’t use it this time as we had an early flight to catch.

A Detailed Look at the Guest Rooms
The room design at the Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi is centered around space and elegance. Our room was a true retreat from the desert heat, featuring a king-size bed positioned between a comfortable sitting area with a couch and a dedicated work desk.
The View from the Balcony
The highlight of the room was undoubtedly the balcony. It was spacious and offered an incredible view of the Emirates Palace (now a Mandarin Oriental property) and the city skyline in the distance. Watching the lights of the palace turn on at dusk while sitting on the balcony was one of our favorite moments of the stay.

Bathroom Layout and Design
The bathroom was particularly impressive and felt very private. The tub was positioned in the middle of the space, creating a spa-like atmosphere.
Pro Tip: The minibar comes empty by default, which is great for storing your own snacks or drinks, but you can have it stocked by the hotel staff upon request.

Dining and Room Service Experience
Since our visit was a shorter stay, we decided to skip the formal dining rooms and enjoy the comfort of our room. We ordered a spread of traditional mezze, pizza, and wine through room service.
The hotel also provided a welcome gift of fresh fruit and dates, which was a nice local touch. Everything we ordered was fresh and delivered promptly. The mezze, in particular, was a great way to sample local flavors without having to leave the room after a long day of travel. We just soaked up the view on the balcony. It was truly one of the best views we’ve ever had at a hotel.

The Pool and Beach Grounds
The hotel grounds are expansive, offering plenty of room to wander. The pool area features an infinity edge that looks out toward the Arabian Gulf.
Pro Tip: The pool and beach area can feel a bit manufactured and crowded during peak hours. It feels more like a managed beach club than a natural coastline, but it still provides a great vacation vibe if you want to soak up the sun.
If you prefer a long walk, you can easily access the Corniche from the hotel. This is the city’s famous waterfront promenade, and it is a great place for a morning stroll before the temperature rises.

Exploring the Neighborhood
The Grand Hyatt is located in the West End of the Corniche, which is one of the most prestigious areas in Abu Dhabi. While many visitors think they need a car to get around, this area is surprisingly walkable for specific sights, and a short Uber ride will take you to others.
- Emirates Palace: You can head over on foot to see the grounds of this stunning landmark.
- Qasr Al Watan: The Presidential Palace is a short Uber ride away and is a must-visit for the architecture.
- Founder’s Memorial: This is within walking distance and offers a beautiful tribute to Sheikh Zayed.
- Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque: This mosque is gorgeous. We passed it on the way to the airport and got some great photos.
- Louvre Abu Dhabi: Next time we’ll Uber over to “France’s largest cultural project abroad.”

What We’d Change Next Time
Our stay was focused on rest and transit, so we missed out on the breakfast at the Grand Hyatt’s Sahha and the evening atmosphere at Lexx. On a return trip, we would prioritize a longer stay to explore the full range of on-site restaurants.
We also noticed that while the hotel is great for couples, it is quite a large property, which means it lacks the intimacy of a smaller boutique hotel. However, for the price and the points value, it’s a trade-off we would happily make again.

Booking the Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi with Points
We booked this stay as a strategic redemption to keep our out of pocket costs at zero. As a Category 4 Hyatt property, this hotel typically costs between 12,000 and 18,000 World of Hyatt points per night. For our dates, the cash rate was $300 USD, but we used a Category 1-4 Free Night Award, which we get each year with our Chase World of Hyatt card.
Even if you don’t have a free night certificate, using 12,000 points for a $300 room gives you a value of 2.5 cents per point. While it isn’t the highest redemption value we’ve ever achieved, it is a great win for a luxury property in a major city.
Pro Tip: If you hold the World of Hyatt Credit Card from Chase, the $99 annual fee is easily offset by the annual Category 1-4 certificate. Using it here is a perfect example of how that card pays for itself – not to mention the free 2 PM checkout and preferred rooms.

Is the Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi Worth It?
In our honest opinion, the Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi is one of the best values in the region. It offers a level of luxury that usually commands a much higher price point or a higher category ranking.
The combination of the views, the high-quality room finishes, and the ease of access to the Corniche makes it a smart travel choice. You get the palace-adjacent location without the palace bill – and honestly, it was nicer to be across from the palace(rather than in it) so we could admire the view.
Whether you’re stopping over for 24 hours, like we did, or using it as a base for a week in UAE, this property provides a luxe-for-less experience through the Hyatt loyalty program or a great cash value (compared to neighboring properties) if you don’t have points.
