We love the West Bay area of Roatan Island. It’s small and relaxing and offers the best snorkeling right from the shore. It also has some great restaurants and bars. West Bay’s food scene is a mix of casual beach bars, fun night spots, and a few upscale splurges. Most are easy to reach on foot if you’re staying in West Bay, and all have an island vibe that’s perfect for vacation. Here are our favorite spots plus a hidden gem.
Thirsty Turtle at Bananarama
Thirsty Turtle is a lively beachfront bar that’s great for casual meals, sunset drinks, and live music. The atmosphere is fun and social, with friendly staff and plenty of people-watching. There’s also a small pizza spot here that Theo can’t resist. We order it every single trip and it’s fantastic.
Good for: Drinks, pizza, live music, social vibe.
Tip: Come for happy hour.

La Palapa at Infinity Bay
La Palapa is a casual poolside spot with a great view of the beach. It’s our afternoon go-to for cocktails, burgers, tacos, and guacamole. We usually sit at the bar, but they also have plenty of tables overlooking the ocean. In the evening they also have live entertainment like singers and fire dancers.
Good for: Casual bites, cocktails, beach views.
Tip: Order the guac and chips with a cold drink after snorkeling.

The Argentinian Grill
Argentinian Grill is the star of West Bay dining for us. There’s also a location at West End, which we love, but we’re pretty sure the West Bay spot is our favorite. You’ll get perfectly grilled steaks, fresh lobster, and generous portions right on the beach.
Good for: Steak, seafood, beachfront dinners.
Tip: The whole fish is unbelievably tasty.

Gula Gastro Bar
We’ve had both excellent and average meals at Gula, but when it’s good, it’s great. The menu has a mix of local and international flavors, and the ambiance and food presentation are beautiful. It’s a great upscale spot for a date night, but we’ve also had inconsistent service and some dishes that were disappointing (the gnocchi in particular). We’re keeping it on the recommended list because we’ve had some amazing meals and will definitely give it another try.
Good for: Date night, creative menu.
Tip: Check recent reviews before you go to see what’s currently shining.

Cayuco Beach Bar
Cayuco Beach Bar is located right in front of Paradise Beach Hotel. It’s a fun nighttime spot with music, dancing, and good cocktails. It’s also right in the middle of the beach, so it’s easy to get to from anywhere in West Bay.
Good for: Cocktails, nightlife.
Tip: Best to visit after dark.

Beachers Bar & Grill
Beachers is a West Bay classic for casual food and friendly service. They have a good range of burgers, Caribbean casual dishes, seafood, and cold drinks right on the beach.
Good for: Lunch, sunset drinks.
Tip: Try the coconut shrimp.

Kismet at the Meridian
At the far end of West Bay, Kismet is a laid-back off-the-beaten-path spot that has a more secluded feel. You can walk over the hill to get here from Infinity Bay, or if you’d like, they’ll come pick you up.
Good for: Relaxing vibe, drinks with a view.
Tip: Come here when you’re ready to escape the busier beach area.

Bonus Spot: Luna Muna by Ibagari
This is our hidden gem. You’ll need a taxi from West Bay (it takes about 5–10 minutes) to get to Luna Muna at the Ibagari hotel, but it’s worth it for a special night out. The restaurant and hotel are gorgeous and secluded, perfect for a romantic getaway and a pricey-but-delicious meal in an elegant setting. Just remember to cover up and bring bug spray. You’ll need it!
Good for: Special occasions, fine dining.
Tip: Go early to enjoy the sunset from their pool deck.
