Best Hotels in West Bay Roatan: Where to Stay for Every Budget
West Bay Beach is one of the most popular areas to stay in Roatán for a reason: calm blue water, a sandy beach that’s easy to walk, and some of the best snorkeling right from the shore. We’ve stayed at a range of hotels here, from higher-end resorts to smaller, budget-friendly options. Here are some of the best hotels on West Bay Beach for island vibes and walkability – and the pros and cons of each.

Best Luxury Hotel in West Bay Roatan: Kimpton Grand Roatán
The Kimpton Grand Roatán is the most upscale option in West Bay. Rooms are modern and well-appointed, with comfy beds, reliable air conditioning, and private balconies or terraces. The pool and beachfront area are well maintained, and there are several onsite restaurants.
- Pros: Comfortable rooms, beachfront, attentive service, good onsite dining.
- Cons: Expensive, feels more like an international resort than a local experience.

Best for Families and Long Stays: Infinity Bay Spa & Beach Resort
Infinity Bay offers condo-style suites with full kitchens, making it a good choice for families and longer stays. The pool is one of the largest in West Bay, and the beach in front has excellent snorkeling access (but the whole beach does, really).
- Pros: Spacious rooms with kitchens, large pool, prime snorkeling location.
- Cons: Can feel busy in high season and service can vary. Also, in recent years it’s been more expensive than its value, so we’ve booked Paradise Beach instead.
Tip: You might find better deals through vacation rental sites than the management company, so check around.

Best Mid-Range Hotel in West Bay Roatan: Paradise Beach Hotel
Paradise Beach Hotel is a straightforward beachfront hotel with simple but comfortable rooms. Beach chairs are included for guests, and the location is an easy to walk to restaurants. We love the onsite beach bar.
- Pros: Good value for beachfront location, nice pool, and located in the heart of the beach.
- Cons: Rooms and decor are older, and food onsite is average. But we saved a ton last time over Infinity Bay and it’s easy to walk to the best food spots from here.

Best Budget Hotel in West Bay Roatan: West Bay Lodge & Spa
West Bay Lodge is a small garden property that’s a quieter, budget-friendly choice with bungalow-style, spacious rooms. It’s not on the beach, but only a short walk away. Breakfast is included, and the owners are so kind and welcoming. They even drove us to the airport (for a fee) when we couldn’t find a taxi. This is our favorite place to stay when we’re on a budget and you can get day passes to Infinity Bay if you want to be beachfront.
- Pros: Peaceful setting, friendly hosts, breakfast included.
- Cons: No direct beach access, limited onsite facilities (but there is a cute little pool).

Best Beachfront Budget Option: Bananarama Dive & Beach Resort
In the past, we found the rooms at Bananarama less comfortable, but they recently underwent renovations, so we’d be open to trying again. The location is very central, and there’s an onsite dive shop and really fun beach bar.
- Pros: Excellent location for diving and beach activities, newly renovated rooms.
- Cons: Can be noisy, small rooms compared to resorts, no pool.

Best Adults-Only Hotel in West Bay Roatan: Naboo Resort
We haven’t stayed here yet, but Naboo is where we’ll be staying on our next trip to West Bay. A big perk is that it’s an adults-only property with a modern design and a pool. Although it’s not beachfront, Naboo is located behind Bananarama and is only a short walk to the water.
- Pros: Modern style, quieter atmosphere, good reviews.
- Cons: Not directly on the beach, smaller property.
Best Boutique Luxury Hotel Near West Bay: Ibagari
Ibagari is a private luxury boutique located between West Bay and West End and is unlike anything else on the island. It’s adults-only, intimate with just 16 suites, and beautifully designed with open architecture, natural materials, and ocean views throughout. The on-site restaurant Luna Muna is excellent, and Duna Divers operates right on the property for guests who want to dive without leaving the resort. A free beach shuttle also runs to West Bay Beach.
The trade-offs are the location and price. It’s secluded in the best and worst sense: gorgeous and quiet, but buggy in the evenings and a walk or shuttle ride from the main beach strip. It’s the right pick if you want a honeymoon-style retreat or a serious dive base. It’s not the right pick if you want to be in the middle of the action.
- Pros: Stunning property, excellent dining, on-site dive center, adults-only privacy.
- Cons: Buggy evenings, not walking distance to West Bay restaurants and bars, higher price point.
Best Airbnb in West Bay Roatan: Argentinian Grill Studios
The Argentinian Grill operates beachfront studios right on West Bay that our close friends just stayed at and loved. Rooms include a kitchenette, breakfast at the fantastic restaurant downstairs, and beach chair access on West Bay Beach. The vibe is bohemian and casual. This is not a resort, and that’s entirely the point. It’s one of the best value options right on the beach.
- Pros: Beachfront, breakfast included, affordable, great restaurant downstairs.
- Cons: Basic (but spacious) rooms, not for travelers who want resort amenities.

Pro Tip: Watch Where You Book in West Bay
Not all West Bay accommodations put you in the heart of the action. Properties toward the Gumbalimba end of the beach are more affordable but further from the best restaurants, bars, and snorkeling access. If walkability and beach access matter to you, stick to the central stretch between Bananarama and Infinity Bay.
What to Know Before You Book a Hotel in West Bay Roatan
Most properties in West Bay are small, privately run operations. The Kimpton Grand Roatán is the first international chain on the beach, and it only took over relatively recently. That changes how booking works here compared to other Caribbean destinations.
How to Book West Bay Hotels
Because most properties are small and privately run, booking engines and cancellation policies vary more than you’d expect at a typical resort destination. Whether you book direct or through a third party, read the cancellation terms carefully before you confirm. Fully refundable rates are harder to find here than at chain hotels, and that’s worth factoring into your timing.
Roatan doesn’t tend to sell out the way other Caribbean destinations do, so you don’t need to book months ahead outside of peak holiday weeks. The best rooms at smaller properties like West Bay Lodge and Ibagari go quickly in high season, so earlier is still better if you have a specific property in mind.
Infinity Bay Day Passes
If you’re staying somewhere without direct beach access, Infinity Bay offers day passes starting at $30 per person, which includes pool access, beach chairs, and showers. The Bronze pass at $60 adds two drinks and kayak use. The Silver at $108 adds lunch. No deposit is needed to reserve. We’ve done this a few times because we love the location for the pool, beach and snorkeling, but actually prefer the much cheaper West Bay Lodge accommodations.
